Refurbishment of uPVC Tilt & Turn Windows
Here we refurbished 360 uPVC tilt and turn windows .
The original windows had been replaced just over 40 years ago with the uPVC tilt and turn type of opener, situated on the seaward side of the site these windows took the full force of the Southwesterlies and sea salt. The building had stood empty for a number of years before it was totally refurbished.
New locking mechanisms from Mila where used, replacing the old corroded ones, sashes and frames cleaned and new trickle vents cut in onsite.
Refurbishment of Timber Sliding Sash Windows
Years of neglect and lack of maintenance had taken its toll on the 110 year old windows. In total there were 76 timber sliding sash windows to refurbish and upgrade the single glazing to double glazed.
We took the approach of re using as much of the original hardware as we could refurbish, rotten timber cut out and reclaimed timber spliced in. The sashes only opened up by 75mm, due to this building was used for containment unit, we had to remove the internal blocks within the box section and re site the pullies to allow for full opening.
Slimline double glazed units where fitted and ‘puttied’ in using specialist bedding compound, the sliding sashes re strung and weighted and a concealed draught excluding system installed.
